CHMS Welcomes Guest Artist

Text Box: Published 2007-03-15 13:31:08 By Patti Keith  Kingsport native, Jon Ross, returned to his roots this week as a guest speaker in the Colonial Heights Middle School art room. Ross shared his college art experiences, his studies abroad and his professional career as an artist with the students. “What’s great about John’s story is that he is an outstanding reminder to our students to dream big and follow their talents. Jon probably never imagined when he was in art class here 10 years ago that he would be returning one day as an established touring artist,” said Patti Keith, Colonial Heights Middle School art teacher. The young artist will be painting in Dallas, Tulsa, Albuquerque, Little Rock and Las Vegas as he tours the country creating religious paintings for large live audiences. He has titled this art form, “The Painted Word” Jon Ross presently has a variety of work on display at Madagascar Coffee Company in Kingsport and has an April show planned in Knoxville at Three Flights Up.
