Background The female reclines on a cushion in a seductive manner. The cushion she reclines on is meant to resemble a heart. The message within this painting is that the physical or sexual point in a relationship puts tension on the heart. It will either break the heart or it will provide that comfortable cushion on which the relationship can rest. Her leg resembles a horse's leg to further aid the message of the erotic nature, for the centaurs are Greek mythical creatures which are half-human and half-horse and were typically depicted in erotic themes. |
