Background This painting is part of a twin set. The two paintings of women combing their hair were developed in my attempt to perfect the figure in two slightly different aspects while working within the New Geometric Style. In Woman Combing Hair #1 the figure is developed with solid voluminous shapes in order to establish a firm presence. The handling of recessed areas of her body is exaggerated to relate the shifting of her upper and lower torso. |
