The Mystery of Birth

Several questions should come to mind when studying this painting.  There are so many eggs.  Are they one female's eggs or are they representing humanity's children preparing to be born.  She is all eggs!  Does this highlight female's natural ability to bear children or does it seem to ask if being good mothers is their purpose?  Why is the background egg so big?  It is big because it is addressing a big question.  Why does one yolk pour out and one yolk remain whole?  Does it address the mystery of miscarriages or does it represent the "beautiful" moment a child comes out into the world?  The rough crack reminds me of the heart monitor that a mother would be hooked up to while in the hospital, but there are other intentions such as to show a crack and remind the viewer of a mountainous landscape because of the climatic nature of the event.  Why is the whole yolk the light source?  Why is the yolk being poured out covering another egg?  Why are the eggs making up the female form floating?  Why are they natural colored eggs and the other eggs white?  Why does the part of the egg above the crack look flat?  I can't answer all these questions because if I did the mystery of birth would feel deprived of its mystery.  I can't even ask all the questions I want to ask without revealing the scope of my own answers so I’ll stop asking and let you ask yourself.
