In the Greek myth I am borrowing from, the Titans devour all of the Greek god Dionysius except for his heart, which was snatched away by Pallas and preservedBy a new regeneration, Dionysius again emerged, and being restored to his pristine life and integrity, he afterwards filled up the number of the gods.  Titans, symbolic of power and the anarchic spirit, provide an excellent allusion to the chaotic and extreme forces of nature reigning havoc on everything in their path.  I blended the feel of every type of natural disaster into one barren landscape.  The message in this painting is that these disasters leaves a wake of destruction, but life lives on and can return to its former state of being.  This was painted while Hurricane Katrina was in the news headlines.
