This painting is designed to reflect one spirit of communion. Like the breaking of bread and then the taking of the juice from the fruit of the vine, the beginning message is MY BODY and transforms into MY BLOOD. This is a hard image, but it is done with good intentions. When my own faith is weak, the realism of this image reminds me of the reality of the events that transpired. I feel that the magnitude of the crucifixion is portrayed in this painting. After completion of My Blood, My Body, I realized it is reminiscent of The Red Christ by Lovis Corinth which I was privileged to see in Munich’s Art Museum, Neue Pinakothek. |
